Jasmine Roth‘s daughter hit a major milestone.
The HGTV star, 40, recently celebrated her daughter Darla’s first birthday, sharing an exclusive look into the festivities with PEOPLE. Roth, who shares her two daughters with husband Brett Roth, reflected on how much her daughter has grown, noting that seeing her get older has made her “terrifying” birth experience worth it.
“How is it possible that our little Darla Rose is 1 already? It feels like yesterday that all 4lbs 8oz of her surprised us a month early,” she tells PEOPLE. “And while I’m definitely still not over that birth experience (not sure I ever will be) seeing her grow this past year has made it all worthwhile.”
“She hasn’t just grown, she’s thrived!” she adds. “She is cuddly, funny, and after her health concerns were behind us, she’s been a giggly, happy, and easy baby. She has filled such a special place in our family.”

The doting mom tells PEOPLE that her only goal for her daughter’s first birthday party was to celebrate with family. Since the majority of the family lives in California, Roth decided to have the party there.
“While the party didn’t have a definitive theme, the invitations said, ‘Isn’t she ONEderful,’ and the decor had a lot of bows, a peach and pink color palette, and lots of vintage touches,” she tells PEOPLE. “My mother-in-law makes all of the birthday cakes for our family and this was her first time baking for Darla. The big cake was a delicious bow themed bright pink cake and per my request, she made a less-sugary — and less delicious…ha! — smashcake.”
She shares, “Darla wasn’t very interested in the smashcake, but thankfully the individual chicken pot pies I made (Darla’s favorite food) were a big hit!”

In addition to the cakes and decor, Roth shares that they also had custom cookies, a spritz station and a balloon arch that she designed herself. While there were many special aspects to the celebration, the Hidden Potential host explains that seeing how “proud” her older daughter was of the birthday girl was one of the highlights of the day.
“One of the highlights of the party was seeing how proud Hazel was to be the big sis of the birthday girl,” she says. “She’s 5 years old and is Darla’s biggest fan and her best friend.”
She continues, “Everyone warned that Hazel might struggle as an older sister, but she’s been astoundingly supportive, adaptive, and honestly, the two of them together is just so cute.”

“We had the best time celebrating, and we used this party as an opportunity to thank our whole family for their support over this past year.”
“If the goal was for Darla to know she’s loved, I’d say we accomplished our task and then some,” she adds. “This baby is LOVED beyond measure!”
