“The gorgeous Banks Bair turned 7 last Saturday! What a glorious 7 years it’s been!” she began in her caption. “Banks LOVES her friends, her family, her school, loves to dance, read, sing, cartwheel and is all around just a sweet, charming angel of a human/kid.”

The How I Met Your Father star welcomed her first child, son Luca, 13, in 2012, with her then-husband Mike Comrie. Following their split, Duff began dating Matthew Koma. The pair got married in 2019 and welcomed daughters Banks, and Mae, 4, in 2018 and 2021, respectively. In December 2023, Duff announced she was expecting her fourth child, and Townes was born in May 2024.
In May 2023, Duff appeared on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, where she talked candidly about prioritizing her family.
“I’m obsessed with my kids. I truly enjoy watching them grow and being there with them,” she said. “I always get a little bummed out when I finish a project and someone is like, ‘What’s next?’ What’s next is I’m going to go be a part of my family. I want to be packing all the bags and the lunches. It’s super important to me.”
In May, the Lizzie McGuire actress marked Mother’s Day by sharing an Instagram post filled with photo memories of her crew hanging out and getting silly together. In her post, Duff reflected on the wild “ride” that motherhood has been.
“Trying to put into words how grateful I am for all that this life has afforded me is a sincere challenge – honestly thankful for my camera roll for capturing and reminding me of all the moments big and small that get swallowed up by the next and the next – it seems life is on the autobahn – what a ride,” she wrote.
The accompanying photo carousel featured more than a dozen family photos, including several that showed Duff’s own mom posing with her daughter and grandchildren. Other shots captured Duff and her kids playing in their yard and having fun together. One image shows Koma posing for a selfie with his three daughters.
Duff also included an intimate photo of her home birth, seemingly taken just moments after her baby arrived.

In February, for her Valentine’s Day post, Duff posted several pictures and videos from throughout the years via Instagram Stories to celebrate the holiday of love. Duff couldn’t help but add a little humor to the otherwise heartfelt message.
In several slides, she showed a seemingly normal celebration, with pictures of her daughters, Banks and Mae, dressed in white, pink and red. The last image showed Mae having a meltdown because her balloon flew away.
“I can’t help it. I know I’m evil, but it makes me chuckle,” she wrote on a picture of her daughter’s balloon flying away. After she posted two more photos zooming in closer to her daughter’s face, before posting a selfie of herself with the text “Do I keep zooming ??” above it.
