The Prince of Wales proved he is the perfect gentleman today as he dutifully carried his wife, the Princess of Wales‘s, tartan coat as she got stuck into an activity.

William, 43, and Kate, 44, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, are currently visiting Stirling and Falkirk for a two-day visit to promote Scottish heritage traditions.

During their visit to Stirling today, they were shown around Radical Weavers, a tartan-weaving studio and independent charity, where the royal couple looked very loved-up.

Once inside, Kate sat down for a lesson in weaving tartan, and she handed over her coat to William, who held it as he patiently observed his wife learning the ropes of weaving.

Kate’s custom blue tartan coat was designed by famed Savile Row tailor Chris Kerr, and she paired it with a black turtleneck from Zara. The mother-of-three completed her ensemble with black suede boots from Gianvito Rossi.

While Kate was radiant in the royal blue coat, Prince William opted for a navy sweater that perfectly complemented her look.

Today was one of a series of events designed to spotlight Scottish heritage traditions and how they are ‘continuing to connect communities and inspire new generations’.

A clip of William and Kate at the studio left royal fans swooning as one X user wrote: ‘What a lovely couple they are, we are so lucky to have these two, our future King and Queen.’

Earlier in the day, William and Catherine joined the British Olympic and Paralympic curling teams in Stirling ahead of the winter games, and even tried their hand at the sport.

Curling originated in Scotland 500 years ago and is one of the UK’s most successful winter sports – earning Team GB and Paralympics GB eight medals in total.

But the prince and princess soon learned just how difficult it is to master the sport after being given a short introduction of how to throw the stone.

Skips Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds gave them a five-minute demonstration on how to push off from the rubber hack, a foothold in the ice, and use the slippery sole they were given to propel themselves forward.

After doing a few practice lunge motions, Catherine appeared apprehensive to take to the ice and told her husband: ‘You can go first.’

‘Are you sure?’ He replied. ‘It won’t make a difference.’

But he confidently took a stone and bent down into position, saying ‘here we go, let’s see what happens’ as he slid off.

Laughing, William said, ‘It’s not going very fast,’ but silver medallist Mouat reassured him that you usually have sweepers to help a stone reach the house – the target at the end of the ice strip.

When it was Catherine’s turn, she tentatively took to the 45-metre long sheet, holding onto her husband’s right arm as she carefully stepped onto the ice.

Hoisting her long skirt up and tucking her hair behind her ear, the princess got into position.

Appearing increasingly nervous to spring off, William could be heard encouraging her: ‘Just lean on both Catherine,’ in reference to the red stone and the delivery stick, used for beginners to help steady themselves.

The Waleses’ engagements in Scotland come after Kate hosted a reception for members of the World Cup-winning Red Roses England ladies’ rugby team at Windsor Castle last week.

Kate, who is patron of the Rugby Football Union, held the glittering reception to celebrate the national team’s landmark win last September.

They were welcomed to the Green Drawing Room by the Band of the Irish Guards – of which the Princess is Colonel – who played tunes including 9 to 5 and New York, New York.

The princess opted for a scarlet suit by Alexander McQueen in a nod to the rugby team, known as the ‘Red Roses’.
