A new entertainment hub — “Holidaze” — is set to open in downtown Wheeling next to the Bridge Tavern in the coming years.
The venue will feature three stories, each with a distinct purpose. The top floor will host live music and a wedding venue with a capacity of up to 300 people. The second floor will house a restaurant and bar.
“So, almost like a pop-up holiday bar that you would find in bigger cities, so all the crazy decorations for different holidays,” Owner Miah Runkle said.
The bottom floor will offer a smaller event space for occasions such as bridal showers or graduation parties.
“So, you can go upstairs to your wedding, you can go downstairs for your cocktail hour and then after, go to the middle floor and hang out with your family that’s made it through the night,” Runkle said.
Runkle, an Ohio County native, purchased the building in 2023. She says the name comes from the vision she sees with the business.
“Whether it’s just like after the Christmas parade coming in here and that being a new tradition of this being our new tradition after the parade or after you watch ‘The Nutcracker’ at the Symphony on Ice,” she said.
Once completed, “Holidaze” plans to operate from Wednesday through Saturday, with hours yet to be determined. Officials are hopeful for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in January 2027.
