The entertainment industry has lost two respected performers whose careers spanned decades across film, television and theater. Both men left behind bodies of work that continue to resonate with audiences around the world.

James Handy (1945–2026)

Veteran character actor James Handy died on June 3 at the age of 81. Over nearly five decades, Handy built an impressive résumé with appearances in films including Jumanji, Arachnophobia, The Rocketeer, Logan and Top Gun: Maverick. Television viewers also recognized him from series such as Alias, The X-Files, Law & Order, NCIS: Los Angeles and Criminal Minds. With nearly 150 screen credits, Handy became one of Hollywood’s most dependable and familiar character actors.

Anthony Head (1954–2026)

British actor Anthony Head died at age 72 following complications from pneumonia. He was beloved worldwide for his portrayal of Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a role that made him a fan favorite for generations. Head’s career extended well beyond Buffy, with notable performances in Ted Lasso, Merlin, Little Britain, The Iron Lady and numerous stage productions. His versatility, warmth and commanding screen presence made him one of Britain’s most respected actors.

Their contributions to film, television and theater will continue to entertain audiences for years to come, ensuring their legacies remain part of entertainment history.
