The good times feel pretty great for Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman in the trailer for Song Sung Blue. Watch it below.
Based on a true story, the film was written and directed by Craig Brewer. It stars Hudson and Jackman as a pair of aspiring musicians in Milwaukee who find love and success after starting a Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning and Thunder. Named after Diamond’s 1972 chart-topping single, the movie opens in theaters nationwide on December 25th.

“You don’t want to be a Neil Diamond impersonator. You want to be a Neil Diamond interpreter,” Hudson says as character Claire Sardina toward the beginning of the clip. “I was looking for the right way to say it, and you just came right out and said it,” responds Jackman as husband Mike Sardina.
Song Sung Blue is based on Greg Koh’s 2008 documentary of the same name. The movie’s cast is rounded out by Michael Imperioli, King Princess, Ella Anderson, Mustafa Shakir, Jim Belushi, Hudson Hensley, and Fisher Stevens.
Last year, Jackman starred alongside Ryan Reynolds in the summer blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine. Hudson most recently led the cast of the new Netflix basketball series Running Point, which has been renewed for a second season.
