Heading up the slate is feature film “Shanghai Wonton,” produced by Shanghai Artown Film and directed by Wu Tiange.
The film follows retired engineer Lao Wang, who lives a quiet life in Shanghai and shares a weekly ritual with his son, who returns home every Saturday for a bowl of homemade wontons. Hoping to help his son settle down, Lao Wang visits the city’s famous marriage market, where unexpected encounters lead him on an emotional journey of his own.
The film won the Shanghai Film of the Year prize at this year’s Shanghai Film Critics Awards, and has grossed over RMB30 million ($4.35 million) at the Chinese box office since its release in December 2025
