Noah Hummel and Joe Korus combined on a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Holy Redeemer opened the season with a 9-0 win over Western Wayne in a nonleague baseball game Wednesday afternoon.

Hummel went the first four innings, striking out six and walking two. Korus walked one and struck out four over the final three innings.

Freshman third baseman Reilly Hossage had four hits and one RBI. Alex Gordon had two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Korus added a single and two RBIs.

Vinny Baldini reached base twice via a walk for Western Wayne.

Wyoming Area 11, Crestwood 2: At Wyoming Area, Robbie Yatsko had two hits and four RBIs, while Ben Rogish and Dave Favata each drove in two to lead Wyoming Area over Crestwood.

Alex Vacula pitched 3.2 innings of relief to get the win. He allowed two hits and struck out three.

Jack Rodgers had a single and scored one run for Crestwood.

Wallenpaupack 4, Valley West 3: At Wallenpaupack, Thomas Kiersted scored on a wild pitch on an 0-2 count with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to provide the game-winning run in Wallenpaupack’s nonleague victory.

Kiersted reached base on an error to begin the inning and advanced all the way to third on a sacrifice bunt and infield groundout.

CJ Doty pitched two innings of relief to get the win. Kiersted tossed the seventh to get the save.

Noah Fetko led off the top of the first inning for Valley West with a home run.

Northwest 11, Nanticoke Area 8: At Nanticoke Area, Garrett Bau pitched six innings with six strikeouts and helped his cause at the plate with a single and two RBIs in Northwest’s nonleague victory.

Liam Thomas homered and scored two runs for the Rangers while Cole Kablick had four hits.

Dylon Ball had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for Nanticoke Area. Michael Stachowiak had two doubles, while Said Martinez had two hits and two runs.

Softball

Valley View 12, Pittston Area 11: At Archbald, Cora Castellani picked up right where she left off in the 2025 season.

The Valley View infielder laced a one-out single to left field that scored Lily Smith and Grace Munley as the Cougars rallied past Pittston Area.

Castellani finished her day 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs. Abbi Call started her senior year with a 4-for-4 night, which included two home runs and five RBIs. Maggie Hallett also hit a home run and drove in three in the victory.

Munley entered in the second inning in relief of Call to pick up her first victory.

Samantha Herbert had a home run, finished with two hits and three RBIs for the Patriots. Mikaila Sarf was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Jillian Haas hit a homer and drove in two.

Tunkhannock 15, Crestwood 0 (4 inn): At Tunkhannock, Michaela Howell tossed a four-inning no-hitter and drove in four runs as Tunkhannock picked up the WVC Division 1 win.

Howell had two doubles and a home run, and struck out six.

Addisyn Waterman was 4 for 4, Lucy Karp added two hits and Kayden Bamberger had two hits and two RBIs.

Berwick 12, Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech 0 (5 inn): At Bloomsburg, Emma Welsh hit a home run, and Makayla Brown allowed just three hits as the Bulldogs picked up the nonleague win.

Welsh and Lauren Ashworth each finished with two RBIs, while Ashlyn Klahold, Brown and Welsh each had two hits.

Brown struck out 12 in the win.

Western Wayne 4, Holy Redeemer 3 (8 inn): At Casey Park, Olivia Black hit a solo homer in the eighth inning as the Wildcats picked up a one-run, extra-inning win over Holy Redeemer.

Redeemer trailed by one in the fifth, but an RBI groundout by Covington Lehman scored Zoe Pecuch to knot the game at 3.

Ava Thomas had two of the six Redeemer hits as Lehman and Hailey Pius each drove in a run. Thomas threw all eight innings, striking out nine.

Black, Hannah DeStefano and Adysen Wargo each had two hits for Western Wayne.

West Scranton 13, Hazleton Area 3 (6 inn): At Hazle Twp., the Lady Invaders hit three Hazleton Area pitchers 13 times as West picked up the victory.

Mia Tallo had the big night, going 3 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Sydney Williams, Brianna Connor, Sophia DeLuca, Laney Mackie and Lauren Tumavitch each had two hits.

Kaleiah Connor picked up the win, allowing five hits and striking out six.

Kayla Lagowy drove in two runs for the Cougars.

Northwest 4, North Pocono 3: At Northwest, Jenna Robaczewski cracked a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie and help the Lady Rangers surprise North Pocono in a nonleague game.

Callie Moyer had two hits and winning pitcher Natalia Ninotti helped her cause with a double.

Olivia Charles and Riley Grambo each had two hits for the Lady Trojans. Paige Dymek homered in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 2. After Robaczewski put Northwest back in front, Charles doubled and scored in the bottom of the sixth to bring North Pocono within one. In the bottom of the seventh, Isabella Forgione doubled with two outs, but Robaczewski struck out the final batter to save the victory.

Boys lacrosse

Delaware Valley 10, North Pocono 2: At North Pocono, Tyler Husejnovic scored four goals and Mike Iuzzolins added three in Delaware Valley’s victory.

Nova Keeling scored twice for Delaware Valley, and Phillip Leslie added one goal.

PJ McLaine and Pat Dougher each scored one goal for North Pocono.

Lake-Lehman 15, Mifflinburg 1: At Mifflinburg, Anthony Magnotta had five goals and Matt Finarelli scored three to lead Lake-Lehman to a victory over Mifflinburg in a nonleague matchup.

Hunter Palka had two goals and three assists, while Jeremy Janosov and Trevor Sciandra each scored two goals. Logan Law and Nate Johnston each scored one goal. Law also had an assist. Dominik Brown recorded seven saves.

Boys tennis

Wyoming Seminary 5, Wilkes-Barre Area 0: At Wyoming Seminary, Billy Hall and Dhruv Sudhakar each won their singles matches and the Blue Knights swept in doubles in a win over the Wolfpack.

Singles: Hall (WS) over Fuentes, 6-0, 6-0. Sudhakar (WS) won 6-0, 6-0. Zecar (WS) won by forfeit; Doubles: Bobeck/Radovanovic (WS) over Crise/Fuetez, 6-0, 6-2. Nguyen/Huang (WS) won by forfeit.

Dallas 5, Crestwood 0: At Crestwood, Nate Linnen, Theo Barr and Andrew Avila all won singles matches and the Mountaineers swept in doubles to post the win over the Comets.

Singles: Linnen (D) over Rossi, 6-0, 6-3. Barr (D) over Young, 6-2, 6-2. Avila (D) over Groth, 6-2, 6-1; Doubles: Eyet/Swanson (D) over Hunsinger/Gee, 6-0, 6-4. Rakos/Harris (D) over Johnson/Wisniewski, 6-1, 6-0.

Valley West 5, Pittston Area 0: At Valley West, Gadgidas Reisinger and Jake Gluchowski both won in singles, while the doubles team of Eli Blockus and Brady Munster won by injury forfeit.

Singles: Reisinger (WVW) over Jones, 6-0, 6-0. Gluchowski (WVW) over Adames, 0-6, 6-0, 6-1. Smith (WVW) won by forfeit; Doubles: Blockus/Munster (WVW) won by injury forfeit. Corbett/Serota won by forfeit.

Boys volleyball

Tunkhannock 3, Berwick 0: At Berwick, Christian Stevens had six aces and 10 assists, while Rowan Hunter had 14 kills for Tunkhannock in a win over the Bulldogs, 25-18, 25-16, 25-16.

Ezekiel Goglin had 20 digs for Tunkhannock, while Braydon Christopher had six kills and four aces.

Jamir Ramos had eight kills and six service points for Berwick. Camden Nevius had 12 assists, 10 service points and two aces. Bailey Pursel had three aces and 12 service points, and Parker Awewalt had four kills and six service points.

Delaware Valley 3, Nanticoke Area 2: At Nanticoke Area, Zachary Zubritski had 13 kills and 13 digs and Brayden Isaacs had 30 assists and seven blocks for Nanticoke Area in a five-set loss to Delaware Valley, 25-9, 25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 15-10.

Ethan Yendrziewski had 13 kills and six blocks for the Trojans and Seth Piontkowski had 10 kills and five blocks.

Holy Redeemer 3, Dallas 0: At Redeemer, Max Mohutsky had 17 points, five aces and seven assists while Austin Rood had 12 points and three aces to lead the Royals, 25-12, 25-10, 25-9.

Sebastian Cooney had six kills and four points, while Jack McCue had five kills and three points.

Hazleton Area 3, MMI Prep 0: At MMI Prep, Rishi Patel had two kills and seven service points and Jozef Dovicak had three kills, four digs and eight service points for MMI Prep in a loss to Hazleton Area, 25-8, 25-10, 25-15.

Sharan Parikh had two kills, three assists and six service points for the Preppers.

Track and field

The Lake-Lehman track and field teams swept past Northwest Area on Wednesday afternoon.

In the boys race, the Cronin boys, Finn and Bodhi, combined for four wins as the Black Knights edged out the Rangers, 84-65. Miller Mattie, Ryan McGurk, Brady Winsor and Parker Smith each had wins for the Black Knights.

Wyatt Orlowski, Michael Fritz and Ben Bohnam were all multiple winners for Northwest.

In the girls meet, Northwest’s Julia Hasinus won three times, but the Rangers lost to Lehman, 85-65.

Hartley Crawford also added three wins for the Rangers, while Lehman’s Harper Frederick and Ava Jones each won twice.
