The FBI has confirmed that they are “conducting an extensive search” along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills in the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie.
Savannah Guthrie‘s mother was last seen on January 31 and reported missing a day later. The Today Show host and her family have made multiple pleas asking for the safe return of her mother.
But today, Wednesday, February 11, a statement made by the FBI was posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. This news comes after an ex-FBI agent revealed the hidden codeword that Savannah used in her message to the kidnappers.
“This morning, numerous FBI agents are conducting an extensive search along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills area related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” the statement read. “We are asking the media and motorists to follow all traffic laws and to remain especially cautious when passing law enforcement personnel near the roadways.”
It continued, “We appreciate the assistance and support we have received from the Tucson community. The FBI continues to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie. You can help by submitting tips to the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.”
While someone was detained and questioned about the kidnapping, they were let free, and no suspects currently remain as of writing. However, four black and white images were released on February 10 that show a masked individual standing on Nancy’s porch the morning she was last seen.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared, “Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Authorities added that they have been working closely with private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy’s home that might’ve been lost or corrupted.
