Iggy Azalea is opening up about the secret health issues she was forced to navigate while maintaining her OnlyFans account.
“I just ended up getting what’s called a chronically non-healing wound because I had a PICC line in my arm,” the former rapper, 35, said in an interview with ABC News on Saturday, August 9.
Azalea suffered from nerve damage in her legs, which led to a severe infection. To treat the infection, she received a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line inserted into her arm. A PICC Line is a flexible tube inserted into a vein in the arm and threaded into a larger vein near the heart, per the Mayo Clinic. The treatment is primarily used for long-term intravenous (IV) access, allowing for the delivery of medications, fluids and nutrition. PICC lines are often used when a patient needs IV therapy for more than a few days.
As Azalea was receiving treatment, she continued with her OnlyFans venture while keeping her condition to herself.
“We would take the PICC line out and then take hot bikini pictures for a day or two,” she said. “I turned lemons into lemonade with that. I really did.”
Azalea joined OnlyFans in January 2023, two years after she retired from music. The “Fancy” singer became one of the platform’s top creators, charging users $25 a month to access her content. On her page, fans viewed exclusive photos, videos, illustrations, poetry and music.
“I’m no fool. I’ve been paid before I even made the profile,” she said to ABC News. “I was the top for that year. I barely, honestly, didn’t have to do much.”
While it was previously reported that Azalea earned $48 million from her time on OnlyFans, she clarified that the alleged amount was not accurate.
“It’s not $48 million. That’s not the exact number, but it’s a life-changing number,” she claimed. “It’s a little lower. It was great for me because I was able to take all that money and use it to seed out ideas I had about businesses that I wanted to build.”
Azalea shuttered her OnlyFans page in 2024 and has since moved on to other projects. She is the cofounder of the wireless provider Unreal Mobile and launched her own cryptocurrency called $MOTHER.
“I want control. I think a very big part of the last ten years of my life has honestly been a part of getting that control back and being able to navigate my own ship in those ways,” she reflected. “It feels really good to be able to do it. “
