The I’m A Celebrity drama just keeps on coming, with producers now responding to reports in the press surrounding the heated argument between Jimmy Bullard and Adam Thomas.
In Tuesday night’s episode, the remaining I’m A Celebrity: South Africa contestants were told that for their next trial, they’d all be paired up, with their future in camp dependent on how they and their partner perform.
Ahead of the challenge, Jimmy chose to pair himself up with Adam, but when the challenge actually got underway, the former footballer had a change of heart, effectively bringing both his and the soap actor’s time on I’m A Celebrity to an end.
This sparked a big reaction from the Emmerdale star, who fumed: “Are you ******* taking the piss? I am in there getting covered in ******* ants!”
Jimmy then urged his campmate to “calm down”, branding his reaction “pathetic”, as Adam continued.
Eventually, it was decided that Adam should be allowed to remain in camp with Jimmy leaving.
However, the Daily Mail has since reported that the spat went on a lot longer than viewers saw, with Adam reportedly branding Jimmy a “cunt” at one point.
A spokesperson for I’m A Celebrity has since insisted to Metro that the show depicts “an accurate and fair representation of events”, even if certain sequences are edited for time.
They also responded to an allegation from the Mail’s “insider” that “Jimmy believes that [Adam] tried to kick him, too”, saying: “This is categorically not true. Adam did not try to kick Jimmy.”
It’s now been reported that Adam and Jimmy are still not on speaking terms, with The Sun claiming that the latter is planning on swerving the live I’m A Celebrity: South Africa final on Friday as a result of the fall-out, even if this costs him around 20% of his pay.
ITV had no comment when contacted by celebrity.land UK.
Over the weekend, Adam admitted that his second I’m A Celebrity stint was “one of the toughest things I’ve ever been through, physically, mentally, and emotionally”, after feeling pushed “to my limits” by former co-star David Haye.
I’m A Celebrity: South Africa continues on Wednesday night on ITV.
