Tom Read Wilson, star of Celebs Go Dating and runner up on I’m A Celebrity last year has been in the region
It’s not every day you get an I’m A Celebrity runner up calling in for a coffee and a scone, but that’s exactly what happened at a certain cafe and bistro in the North East this weekend., And staff at The Lamp Room in County Durham said having Tom Read Wilson come in really ‘brightened their day.’
Well known to E4 viewers for being the long-serving agency receptionist on Celebs Go Dating, always lending a friendly ear and sincere advice to the famous clients, Tom saw his TV profile sky rocket last year, when he made the switch to primetime ITV as a contestant on I’m A Celeb. A late arrival alongside Vogue Williams, unlike Vogue, who ended up being one of the first campmates to get the boot, Tom made it right to the end, finishing in second to Angryginge, 2025’s King of the Jungle.
Tom’s warmth, humour and eccentricities saw him win the hearts of many viewers who tuned in every night to watch him and, seeing him walk in to their cafe on Saturday, staff at popular Seaham spot The Lamp Room, couldn’t have been happier. They shared a photo of two of them with Tom on the venue’s Facebook page and captioned it: ‘This charming fellow brought smiles to our faces today when he called in for a coffee and a scone,’ with the text on the image itself declaring that Tom had ‘brightened their day.’
The post has not had over 1,500 likes and nearly 100 comments, some from others who spotted him, including a local lady who replied: ‘My hubby spotted him when we passed he was like there’s that bloke you like I was like it wont be him .. cant believe he was right lol’ and another who wrote: ‘He was also in Seaham Hall Spa today.’
It’s easy to see why Tom chosen to head to The Lamp Room for some refreshment on his travels, as the bistro has a terrific rating of 4.5 out of a possible 5 on Google and an even better 4.7/5 on Facebook. One happy customer penned a recent review which declared: ‘ Food was outstanding.’
