A new wave of announcements across film, streaming, animation, and international festivals is shaping the next phase of the entertainment calendar, with major projects moving into production, premiere dates being unveiled, and global festivals spotlighting high-profile talent.

Ketchup Entertainment has acquired North American rights to November 1963, a crime thriller from two-time Academy Award nominee Roland Joffé centered on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Written and produced by Nicki Celozzi, the film explores alleged Chicago Outfit involvement through a story based on accounts connected to the Giancana family. The cast includes John Travolta, Mandy Patinkin, Dermot Mulroney, Robert Carlyle, and Jefferson White. The film is expected to receive a wide theatrical release in North America during the fourth quarter of 2026.

A new documentary centered on legendary singer Darlene Love is also in production. Darlene Love: I Know Where I’ve Been comes from director Barry Avrich and producer Taraji P. Henson under her TPH Entertainment banner. The film examines Love’s six-decade career, from recording Phil Spector-era hits to her eventual induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, while exploring the racial discrimination she faced throughout the music industry. Interviews include Cher, Bruce Springsteen, David Letterman, Dionne Warwick, and Jimmy Fallon.

On the television front, Netflix confirmed that The Night Agent will conclude with its fourth and final season, now in production in Los Angeles. Creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan said the final season is intended to provide a definitive ending to Peter Sutherland’s story following the show’s global success on the platform.

Netflix also previewed several upcoming animation projects ahead of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Highlights include sneak peeks at THE ONE PIECE, Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, and Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, along with new details surrounding filmmaker Brad Bird’s upcoming project Ray Gunn. Additional announcements included updates on a new Ghostbusters animated series and a sing-along screening for KPop Demon Hunters.

Meanwhile, Netflix Is a Joke Fest returned to Los Angeles with performances and appearances from Kevin Hart, Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, Shane Gillis, Ilana Glazer, Ramy Youssef, David Letterman, and John Mulaney. Opening events included a 40th anniversary celebration of Pee-wee’s Playhouse and a wildfire relief benefit hosted by Deon Cole.

Family programming also received new updates as Disney released the trailer for Sofia the First: Royal Magic, which premieres May 25 on Disney Jr. before arriving on Disney+ the following day. The series follows Sofia attending the Charmswell School for Royal Magic and will feature a special appearance by Rapunzel in its premiere episode.

At the 79th Cannes Film Festival, South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook will chair the main competition jury. Joining him are Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Laura Wandel, Chloé Zhao, Diego Céspedes, Isaach De Bankolé, Paul Laverty, and Stellan Skarsgård. The jury will award the Palme d’Or from among the festival’s 22 films in competition, with winners to be announced during the May 23 closing ceremony.

Together, the latest announcements reflect an entertainment landscape balancing prestige festival cinema, franchise expansion, streaming growth, and live audience experiences across multiple platforms.
