Netflix has canceled the military comedy drama “Boots” after one season, and fans aren’t happy about it.
“I am really angry (and stunned) that Netflix has chosen to cancel Boots after one season. I actually don’t think I’ve ever been this pissed off about a show’s cancellation before (nor have I ever made a post about one),” one viewer wrote via Reddit. “To me, the show was fantastic and moving in a number of unique ways, and it was one of those series that burrowed under my skin and stuck with me.”
The comments section quickly flooded with fans who shared the original poster’s frustration.
“It is such a great show with lots of storylines for a second season. I‘m at a loss for words. I really would have loved to see where things would have gone,” one person wrote.
“I canceled my netflix. they keep doing this to the good shows so i dont feel like forking money over to them,” another commented.
One viewer expressed interest in signing a petition for Netflix to bring the show back, while another said they “really REALLY hope another network can pick it up and continue it.”
“Boots,” which premiered in October, was based on the memoir “The Pink Marine” by Greg Cope White. It starred Miles Heizer as Cameron Cope, a closeted gay teenager who enlists in the U.S. Marine Corps with his best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh). The series is set in the 1990s, when queer people were excluded from military service.

Shortly after the release of “Boots,” the Pentagon released a statement slamming Netflix for making “woke garbage.”
“Under President Trump and Secretary [of Defense Pete] Hegseth, the US military is getting back to restoring the warrior ethos. Our standards across the board are elite, uniform and sex neutral because the weight of a rucksack or a human being doesn’t care if you’re a man, a woman, gay or straight,” Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson said in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly. “We will not compromise our standards to satisfy an ideological agenda, unlike Netflix whose leadership consistently produces and feeds woke garbage to their audience and children.”

Some “Boots” fans speculated that the show was canceled to appease the Trump administration.
“Pretty clear what happened here. The show got great viewership. Netflix wants the [Warner Bros.] merger to go through. The administration won’t let it happen if Netflix appears ‘woke,’” one Reddit user theorized.
“I feel certain this was canceled out of capitulation to Trump/Hegseth and their hatred of the show,” another commented.
