At a surprise New York show Sept. 13 behind his newly released album “Play,” singer-songwriter superstar Ed Sheeran revealed that he was going to announce a U.S. stadium tour for this upcoming spring through fall.
But it seems Sheeran won’t only be playing stadiums. One very likely stop: the American Family Insurance Amphitheater in Milwaukee, with a capacity of just 23,000 people.
On Sept. 17, Summerfest’s social media channels posted a 10-second video of a cassette tape with everchanging writing, including “Barefoot on the grass while listening to our favorite song” (lyrics from Sheeran’s smash hit “Perfect”) and “Shape of You,” the title of another Sheeran smash hit. The caption for the posts suggests an announcement coming on Sept. 18, 2025.
The video was shared by the Summerfest accounts, but not the American Family Insurance Amphitheater accounts, suggesting a show (or possibly shows) at the largest venue at the Milwaukee festival is highly likely for 2026, and a great get, following news last week of Garth Brooks’ two Summerfest kickoff concerts.
If true, this will be Sheeran’s first time in Milwaukee since playing a sold-out Milwaukee Brewers stadium in 2018.
