YouTube TV subscribers could soon notice some channels missing.
The streaming platform, which offers live TV from more than 100 channels, sent an email notice to subscribers on Monday, August 25, about a potential service change.
Channels including Fox, Fox Sports, and Fox News could soon go dark unless YouTube TV reaches a new deal with the network by Wednesday, August 27, at 5 p.m. ET.
YouTube TV’s email statement noted that the platform’s current agreement with Fox is about to expire.
“We are in active negotiations to continue carrying their content. Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides, as well as our subscribers,” the message reads. “We know how frustrating it is to lose channels, which is why it’s our goal to keep Fox on YouTube TV. We’re committed to continuing to work with Fox to reach an agreement, but if their content becomes unavailable for an extended period of time, we’ll offer our subscribers a $10 credit.”
The $10 credit won’t be enough to sign up for the alternative that YouTube TV suggests, Fox One. The streaming platform costs $19.99 a month.
“If Fox becomes unavailable, you can continue to watch their sports, news, and shows by signing up for Fox One,” the email from YouTube TV noted.

In addition to losing access to Fox channels, YouTube TV subscribers will also lose any recordings of Fox programming they have in their Libraries unless a deal is reached.
In a statement shared with NJ.com, Fox accused Google of making unreasonable demands amid the ongoing negotiations.
“While FOX remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with Google’s YouTube TV, we are disappointed that Google continually exploits its outsized influence by proposing terms that are out of step with the marketplace,” the statement read. “We are alerting FOX viewers who are YouTube TV subscribers that they could lose access to much of their favorite news, sports, entertainment and local station programming unless Google engages in a meaningful way soon.”
This isn’t the first time that a contract dispute has threatened to impact YouTube TV’s television coverage. In February, channels including CBS, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, BET, and Paramount+ With Showtime came close to getting removed from YouTube TV as the platform struggled to reach a new deal with Paramount Global. The two sides reached an agreement on February 13, preventing the removal of the channels.
