As passionate as I am about the slab kitchen backplash, I am not alone in my feelings. Bekki Griffiths, the Head of Brand at Bushboard, agrees that this feature is increasingly becoming a staple in modern kitchens, both for their aesthetic appeal and practical benefits – and 2026 is the year they will really come into play.

Using a single slab with minimal joints is far easier to maintain than traditional tiled backsplashes and, when properly cared for, requires significantly less ongoing upkeep,’ he says.
‘Grout, by contrast, can quickly collect dirt and begin to look tired. In busy households, practicality is paramount, and slabs with subtle veining or pattern can help disguise the marks of everyday use. Mirrored backsplashes remain a popular alternative, though it’s worth noting that they tend to reveal every splash and spill.’
We can’t all have a backsplash as stunning in scale as Brooklyn’s, but this look is truly replicable in even the smallest of kitchens, and now is the perfect time to follow suit.
