CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Multi-platinum recording artist Jack Johnson and his band will perform coast-to-coast next year, stopping in San Diego in October.
San Diegans can catch Johnson’s “SURFILMUSIC Tour,” a 43-date North American tour, at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (NICUA) on Oct. 9, 2026.
This is one of the six California stops of the tour — all part of leg three. It will also stop in Berkely on Oct. 1, Santa Barbara on Oct. 3 and 4 and Los Angeles on Oct. 10 and 11.
The “SURFILMUSIC Tour” marks Johnson’s first return to the road since his 2022 “Meet the Moonlight” tour, when he also performed at NICUA. However, he played a surprise show in September at Breakers Café, Bar & Grill in Encinitas, following the Solento Surf Festival.

Johnson recently released a new single, “Hold On To The Light,” featuring Hermanos Gutiérrez, offering an early glimpse into the anticipated “SURFILMUSICsoundtrack.”
Their collaboration will extend on to the stage. Gutiérrez will be opening for Johnson on legs one and three, and longtime friend G. Love will also join as a guest for leg three.
“SURFILMUSICsoundtrack” was made for “SURFILMUSIC,” a documentary about Johnson’s evolution from surfer to filmmaker to musician, which is set to debut next year.
The film celebrates the community that shaped Johnson’s path, featuring many of the well-known surfers who appeared in his original films, “Thicker Than Water” and “The September Sessions”, that ultimately launched his music career.
Watch the first trailer here. Additional “SURFILMUSIC” documentary and soundtrack details will be announced next year.
General ticket sales started on Nov.14 on www.jackjohnsonmusic.com. Tickets for the San Diego show currently start at $67.20.
