During his Men’s Health interview, Shane admitted that the physical changes he’s made by eating well and working out may impact his comedy.
“If I look good and talk about my insecurities, it won’t land as hard as when I looked bad and talked about my insecurities,” said the Streamy Awards nominee. He added, “I just need to find a new lane to make fun of myself that’s not my body.”
In June, the content creator spoke to PEOPLE and reflected on some viral criticism he received after speaking with Kacey Musgraves on Therapuss. After the episode went live, some viewers called out one of Shane’s questions about a lyric in the country artist’s 2018 track “Slow Burn.”

He told Musgraves that his favorite lyric in the song is, paraphrased, “In Tennessee, the sun’s goin’ down/But in Beijing, they’re headin’ out to work.”
“What do you mean by that? Me and Manny, who I work with, debate it every single day,” he asked Musgraves. The country star appeared surprised when she replied, “Really? It’s not a deep-coded thing … It literally just means what it means.”

Speaking to PEOPLE about his partnership with Panera, Shane noted that he doesn’t claim to be a journalist, despite what some of his critics think. He explains that the show is intended to entertain audiences and make them laugh.
“I like to treat it as two people just getting to know each other for the first time and hang out,” he said. “What it would be like to hang out with your favorite songwriter or actor, whoever’s coming on the show.”
