While talking to the YouTuber BobaTalks, James Gunn has confirmed that he has finished his fourth draft of the upcoming film Man of Tomorrow. Although the pair covered a vast array of interesting topics in the interview, fans can rest assured knowing the film is on track. Based on Gunn’s comments, it can be surmised that filming will begin around April 2026 and the film should be released sometime in 2027. This is a relatively quick turnaround for superhero films, and many expect the film to officially begin the next phase of the DCU.
The first Superman film has become one of the most highly critically acclaimed superhero films of the decade. In a genre that is arguably oversaturated and overdone, the film provided a fresh new take that really seemed to resonate with audiences. The film saw Superman slowly combating Lex Luthor and the complex plot the highly intelligent supervillain laid out for him.

Either way, the upcoming sequel will likely be an even larger undertaking than the original, both in spectacle and overall importance to the DCU.
As Gunn confirmed in the interview, this is his fourth draft of the film. This alone proves that there is a tremendous amount of work and care that is going into the film. Even in pre-production, this movie has likely gotten more attention than several other important feature films.
