James Van Der Beek’s Friends Start Gofundme After ‘Dawson’s Creek’ Star’s Death

Following the shocking announcement of the death of Dawson’s Creekstar James Van Der Beek yesterday (February 11), the actor’s friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign. Tributes for Van Der Beek have been pouring in across social media for the star, who portrayed Dawson’s Creek’s titular character, Dawson Leery, from 1998 to 2003. While Van Der Beek was primarily known for Dawson’s Creek, he also starred in sitcoms like Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 and How I Met Your Mother, too.

In November 2024, the actor announced he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer back in August 2023, and in recent months, he’d been selling pieces of Dawson’s Creek memorabilia to help pay his medical bills.
