Jamie Lee Curtis has made poignant comments about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, remarking on how watching viral videos of the incident could affect our psyche.
On September 10, 31-year-old Kirk was fatally shot during an outdoor speaking event at an educational institute in Utah.
An investigation into his assassination is still ongoing, according to FBI officials.
In a recent interview with Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, Knives Out actress Jamie Lee Curtis condemned the shooting of Kirk at Utah Valley University.
“I’m going to bring something up with you just because it’s front of mind,” the Freakier Friday star said on the episode, published on Sunday (September 15).
She then mistakenly named the Turning Point USA founder as ‘Charlie Crist’, claiming it was a slip-up due to his ‘deep, deep belief’ in religion.

“I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith,” Curtis continued.
“Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith. And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it.”
Fighting tears, the 66-year-old said that she recognized there was a video of his assassination circulating online, and that she knew people who had watched it.
“Yesterday [on 9/11], we watched again these images of those buildings coming down. … Today, we as a society are bombarded with imagery. So we don’t know what the longitudinal effects of seeing those towers come down over and over and over and over again, or watching his execution over and over and over again.”

She added: “We don’t know enough psychologically about what that does. What does that do? That kind of — I don’t ever want to see this footage of this man being shot.”
Curtis isn’t the only celebrity to publicly mark the death of Kirk, with Marvel actor Chris Pratt, former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jake Paul leading the charge.
Former US presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden also released statements, with the latter claiming there was ‘no place in our country for this kind of violence’.
“It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones,” Biden added, referencing his wife of 48 years, Jill Biden.
Ex-Vice President Kamala Harris said she was ‘deeply disturbed’ by the fatal shooting in Utah and that she ‘condemned the act’.
Investigators have arrested and named 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect in Kirk’s killing.

The Utah native was brought into custody less than 48 hours after the tragedy, and has reportedly been refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, according to state Governor Spencer Cox.
According to FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, there were ‘multiple warning signs’ that Robinson exhibited before the shooting, and that the agency is investigating whether the event was ‘part of a larger effort’.
