As Jay-Z returns to his hometown for a string of anniversary shows, the city is ready to celebrate in his honor.
The Grammy-winning rapper is set to take the stage at Yankee Stadium in New York for three highly anticipated anniversary concerts. The “Jay-Z 30” concert series commemorates the 30th anniversary of his debut album, “Reasonable Doubt,” released June 25, 1996. It also celebrates the 25th anniversary of his sixth studio album, “The Blueprint,” released Sept. 11, 2001.
Born Shawn Carter in Brooklyn, the rapper will celebrate “Reasonable Doubt” during his first concert on July 10. This will be followed by a show for “The Blueprint” on July 11. A third “EXTRA INNINGS” show was added on Sunday, July 12, to combine both shows due to high demand.
While the shows officially start this weekend, fans in New York can begin the celebrations now.
D’USSÉ, co-founded by the hip-hop mogul and the global spirits company Bacardi, has already kicked off the celebrations, rolling out a special-edition anniversary box set, a signature cocktail and nationwide activations.
The signature cocktail, “CODE30,” is “inspired by the ‘codes’ of ambition, excellence, and cultural influence that have defined Mr. Shawn Carter’s legacy for the past 30 years,” the brand says.
D’USSÉ is also hosting a range of events throughout the U.S. this summer, including Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Washington, New York and Philadelphia.
Here’s where fans can sip the official cocktail of “Jay-Z 30” across New York City through Aug. 3.
