Jelly Roll is clearing the air about a post he made one week before news broke about his split from Bunnie Xo.
Earlier this month, Jelly Roll, 41, shared a slideshow of him and his daughter, Bailee, on his TikTok page. The post, which was uploaded on June 5, included his new song “Mama” with Latto.
“Can’t believe my life right now I feel on top of the world,” he wrote alongside a photo of him and Bailee, 18, holding up their middle fingers as they smiled for the camera.
The country singer (real name Jason Bradley DeFord) included a second throwback snap of him and his daughter.
“Should’ve seen my face when they told me it’s a baby girl,” he captioned the image.
After news broke of Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo’s split, many fans thought the post was a dig at his estranged wife. However, the “Son of a Sinner” artist clarified that his messaging has nothing to do with what is currently going on in his personal life.
“This wasn’t posted today it’s just going viral today, it is not a response to anything,” he commented on his post on Wednesday, June 17. “All this post meant was I love my daughter and I’m honored to be on Latto’s song. Love y’all.”
Earlier this week, Us Weekly confirmed that Jelly Roll quietly filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo, 46, back in May. According to court documents obtained by Us, the country singer cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, adding that the “parties are unable to live together successfully as Husband and Wife” any longer.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo (real name Alisa DeFord) tied the knot in August 2016. While Bunnie Xo revealed in 2024 that she went through fertility treatments, the pair welcomed no children together. Jelly Roll, for his part, is a father of two. The Grammy nominee shares daughter Bailee with ex-girlfriend Felicia Beckwith and son Noah Buddy, 9, with ex Melisa Ann Cowell. (During their marriage, Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo had primary custody of Bailee when she was a minor.)
After news of their breakup made headlines, both Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo have been active online. In addition to his TikTok videos, Jelly Roll gave fans an update on his weight loss journey and quietly removed mention of Bunnie Xo from his Instagram bio. He also shared that he was hospitalized for a sinus infection one week before news broke of his divorce.
Bunnie Xo, for her part, posted a cryptic message via Instagram about “getting her sparkle back” as she rocked lingerie. The model also shared a clip of her lip-syncing the Nickelback song “This Is How You Remind Me,” which is thought to be a breakup anthem. She continued the trend one week later when she shared a video of her mouthing the words to Jelly Roll’s song “No Limit (Freestyle),” where he brags that she “looks like a human Barbie.”
“Podcast coming soon,” she teased in the caption.
