Jennifer Lawrence is a master of effortlessly glamorous street style, and like a true master, she takes her cues from great muses that came before her: Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and most recently, Jane Birkin.
The Dior ambassador emerged in New York City yesterday evening in a look composed of slouchy yet chic basics. There was a silky ivory trench coat layered over a classic white T-shirt and black lounge pants. There were trusty black hiking sneakers, and inky black shades, and a long candy apple-red scarf that Lawrence tossed around her neck with movie star ease.
The Hunger Games alum even carried a black Yeti cup—proving that sometimes, she’s just like us! But it was her off-duty bag, a sultry black Hermès Kelly with gold hardware, that made the look. Lawrence carried the timeless It bag not like a prized possession, but like an everyday bag meant to be worn and torn—exactly how Birkin used to carry it.
As she walked, Lawrence was seen fishing some necessities out of her wide-open purse, Marry Poppins-style. Was her Yeti holding scalding-hot coffee in there too? I mean, why not?
Lawrence previously spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about finding her personal style. “I think I started paying attention to fashion as soon as paparazzi started happening a few years ago,” she said in her May 2016 cover story. “I was not ready. I was like, ‘What do I wear?’ I had to start paying attention. When I turned 25 it got easier because I know, ‘This is you, this is not you.’”
