Jennifer Lawrence has spoken candidly about how her postpartum experience influenced her performance in the upcoming film Die My Love. Attending the film’s premiere in New York City on November 1, she reflected on the “bad postpartum” period following the birth of her second child and how it shaped her perspective on the role.
Lawrence explained that she experienced significant postpartum anxiety after welcoming her second baby earlier this year. She acknowledged that the experience helped her relate more closely to her character. “I think that just added another layer,” she said. (via PEOPLE)
The actress clarified that personal experience is not essential for portraying a parent, but it helped her better interpret the role. She explained, “I mean, I don’t think that you have to have kids to play a parent by any means, but having that information about, you know, what a tiny person needs, and is looking for. Just having that information was helpful.”
Lawrence shares two sons: a three-year-old and a newborn with her husband, Cooke Maroney. This isn’t the first time Lawrence has spoken openly about her struggles with postpartum. Previously in an interview with The New Yorker, she said, “I thought I was doing everything wrong, and that I would ruin my children.”
Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are set to lead Die, My Love, which will arrive in theaters on November 7, 2025. The film follows Grace and Jackson, a young couple who leave New York behind to settle in a countryside home they have inherited. Away from the city, Grace finds herself struggling to adjust to motherhood while navigating the difficulties of their marriage.
