Cameron Diaz is hoping to team up with Jennifer Lopez amid her return to acting, a source exclusively tells Globe.
“J.Lo has a special relationship with Cameron going back to the ‘90s,” the insider shares, explaining the actresses are “having real discussions about making something” together to follow their “unexpectedly positive experience” on set of 2012’s What To Expect When You’re Expecting.
The duo is reportedly gunning to be the next power pals, reminiscent of Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
“They both have mastered the streaming space, but teaming up is a force multiplier that fulfills a promise they made to audiences in the ‘90s when they both broke out right at the same time,” the source continued. “They see it as a duty, to their fans and to themselves.”

While promoting their 2012 film, the actresses addressed rumors that they “didn’t get along” on set — with Lopez, 56, later explaining that despite starring in the same project, she didn’t technically collaborate with Diaz, 53.
“We didn’t work together on this movie,” she told Ellen DeGeneres during a joint appearance on her eponymous talk show. “Everybody had their own specific story.”
The duo then explained that each star filmed their storyline in 10 days, but they never overlapped.
Now, the source tells Globe, “They are looking for scripts to star in together, and they know they can do something way bigger than Expecting, which made money but is hardly a classic.”
