Jennifer Meyer celebrated a milestone on Thursday, marking the 20th anniversary of her jewelry brand with a gathering at her Brentwood home in Los Angeles.

“The days are long and the years are short,” she smiled, reflecting on two decades in the business. “When you’re in it, you don’t think about it, and then all of a sudden, ‘How did that just go? How am I at 20 years?’ I’m not really good at celebrating myself. But then I was like, ‘you know what, 20 years is a moment, so I’m going to embrace it.’”

Her guests — a mix of family, close friends, and industry names, including Tobey Maguire, Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Malin Akerman, Jenna Dewan, Katharine Foster, Rachel Zoe, Allison Statter, Kelly Sawyer, Liv Perez, Maeve Reilly and Andrea Lieberman — mingled casually through the halls, kitchen and backyard. They enjoyed bites and cocktails, with a soundtrack curated by music artist Starya, in a setting that mirrors the aesthetic of Meyer’s jewelry line: a relaxed, California-cool elegance.

Meyer launched her brand in 2005 with a simple mission to create pieces that she loved and would wear herself. With no formal training in design or business, she pursued her vision purely out of passion, she said.

It would be her first design, a delicate leaf motif, that became an immediate signature and cemented the brand’s early visibility. “I was having this feeling of so many new things about to happen in my life. I was turning over a new leaf, a new beginning,” she recalled of the inspiration for its design. “It’s still one of my bestsellers.”

The piece gained major recognition when Jennifer Aniston, now a close friend, wore it onscreen in the 2006 comedy-drama “The Break-Up” and sparked what Meyer called “leaf mania.”

“Jen Aniston was and is and always will be this icon,” Meyer continued. “I got lucky, and it created a brand name, and then she became my sister. I think it was destiny.”

Rooted in symbolism, her jewelry motifs serve as modern-day talismans celebrating luck, love and protection. The charms — crafted in gold and natural diamonds, designed to be layered and worn daily — have been embraced by a who’s who of talent, from Rihanna to Jennifer Lawrence.

Meyer continues to draw inspiration from the women around her, she said, their style and the way they wear jewelry; that connection has helped her designs resonate across generations, from daughters to granddaughters.

“With women, when you open your jewelry box, you know every piece that’s in there,” she went on. “You know who gave it to you. You know what the occasion was. You know what the feeling was when you received it. Or you know when you bought it, how much you paid for it, what made you buy it. Jewelry has so much emotion tied to it. I just wanted to make pieces that made people feel.”

Made in L.A., Meyer continues to work with many of the same jewelers and artists. “We have such a shorthand now,” she said, noting that years of collaboration make it easy to bring her ideas to life quickly and seamlessly.

Looking ahead, she’s committed to continuing her work in design, noting the impact of rising gold prices while keeping a range of price points in mind. Her website allows shoppers to browse by category, including price, ranging from $250 and under to $10,000 and up.

“It definitely changes things,” she said regarding gold. “I like to have different price points, so it’s accessible to people,” adding, “I still really love what I do. I still really love designing jewelry, so I’m just going to keep designing more and more.”
