The episode, which initially aired in June 2025, was posted to Instagram over the weekend, letting fans on social media test their knowledge of the best-selling author.

King, 78, published It as his 22nd novel in 1986. It was first developed into the miniseries, Counting It, in 1990, before later being adapted into the feature films, IT (2017) and IT: Chapter Two (2019). HBO also has a new prequel series titled, IT: Welcome to Derry, which comes out on Oct. 26.

The $400 clue read, “The cat brought back to life in this novel is called Church, short for Winston Churchill.”

The correct response: “What is Pet Sematary?”

King published Pet Sematary in 1983, and it was adapted into two films, one in 1989 and another in 2019.

$600 clue: “In a story set in Nebraska, an evil being is called ‘He who walks behind the rows,’ ‘rows’ referring to rows & rows of this.”

The correct response: “What is corn?”—a reference to King’s 1978 short story, Children of the Corn, which has been adapted into several films, including the original 9-movie series.

$800 clue: “Pyrokinetic powers are an attribute of Charlie McGee, a daughter of government test subjects & this book’s title character.”

The correct response: “What is Firestarter?”

King published Firestarter in 1980, and it was adapted into a movie starring Drew Barrymore in 1984. Nearly 40 years later, it was remade with a 2022 version that featured Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Zac Efron.

Stumping all three contestants, the $1000 clue read: “2 stories from this Stephen King collection were turned into an Anthony Hopkins movie.”

The correct response: “What is Hearts in Atlantis?”

Some Jeopardy! Fans Thought the Stephen King Category Was ‘Too Easy’

Stephen King fanatics on social media thought the Jeopardy! category was child’s play, with one Instagram commenter calling it “Too easy.”

“Sweeped [sic] the category,” another user wrote, while someone else just commented a series of broomstick emojis to signify a clean sweep.

“Nailed it!” another fan celebrated.

One user in the comments called the King-centered category the “best category” in the game, while another fan gushed, “Now that’s a King!!!”
