The front row at Balmain’s latest show in Paris was stacked with guests including Naomi Watts, Diane Kruger and Camille Razat on hand to witness Antonin Tron’s debut collection as creative director of the house.

“I’ve been lucky to wear so many beautiful, amazing Balmain pieces. But as all things do, they evolve and change, so I’m excited for the change,” said Pope.
“I’m like a sponge when it comes to fashion and inspiration. I’m working on a project right now called ‘The Beauty,’ which is hyper-focused on how we look, how we dress, and how we present ourselves,” Pope added of his star turn in the Ryan Murphy TV series, costarring Bella Hadid and Ashton Kutcher. “Even just being here this week in Paris, there’s so much expression, and I find so many things to explore.”
“I feel like my first red carpet was probably just dressing myself on a tiny budget — and when I say tiny, I mean no budget. But listen, we love an archival piece, so maybe we’ll see a vintage H&M suit out again,” he said.
Pope is also starring in the upcoming Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol biopic, set for release later this year.
Tron’s collection carried a low-key fashion fierceness, with a darker palette and mood in line with his “film noir” theme. Judging by the cheers, it was a crowd-pleaser. The clothes were polished and assured, with just a hint of ’80s flair.
“It was really sexy, beautiful, classy, sensual,” said Noomi Rapace after the show. “I loved it. I could see myself wearing basically everything.”
The “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star, who begins shooting an unannounced secret project next week, was keeping all details under wraps. She also recalled her first red carpet look.
“It was some local designer’s sort of handmade dress, and it was quite awful. Oh god no, I would never wear it again,” she said.
Rapace has three films coming out later this year, so one of the Balmain looks could easily wind up on the red carpet, she added.
