Jerry Rice charged into the gallery after a spectator heckled him during the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday, video shared by OutKick shows.
The 63-year-old Hall of Famer was competing alongside other sports stars and celebrities, according to OutKick, when someone in the gallery mockingly yelled “Fore!” after one of his tee shots. The video shows Rice turn toward the crowd and shout, “Hey! Yo! Hey! Hey!”
The footage shows Rice ducking under the ropes with his club in hand and running toward spectators, asking, “Which one? Which one?” A nearby fan identified the person by shouting, “Green and blue!” The video shows Rice confronting the group before returning to the tee box to applause, OutKick reported.
Rice finished 42nd in the 90-player field, according to OutKick. The incident followed a similar outburst by Rice at last year’s American Century Championship, when he told reporters they were taking shots at his former team, the San Francisco 49ers, the outlet reported.
One spectator at Thursday’s event told OutKick, “Don’t poke the bear,” after the confrontation. OutKick shared the video and coverage of the incident.
