Jessica Simpson had an iconic response to a troll who asked if she’s still performing.
As Simpson, 45, has been embracing her comeback to the music industry, she’s shared many posts of her singing to promote her recent two-part EP, Nashville Canyon. On Thursday, September 18, she took to Instagram to share a black and white video of herself rehearsing for an upcoming show at Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, Illinois. “In rehearsals for my upcomin’ show at the @genesee_theatre singin’ some of my favorite ballads from my older albums,” she wrote alongside the video, which showed her singing a cover of Robbie Williams’ 1997 song “Angels.” “Grab your tickets using the link in my bio.”
While many fans expressed their excitement about her return to music in the caption, one social media user attempted to throw shade by writing in the comments section, “Is she still performing? Who would bother to see her?”
After she saw the shady comment, Simpson made sure to be the bigger person with her iconic response. “If you’re in the Chicago area on Saturday I would love to comp you two tickets,” she replied.
In addition to the upcoming show at Genesee Theater, Simpson has several upcoming tour dates on the calendar as she promotes her latest project.

The “Public Affair” singer made her grand return to the stage in March during a show at the Recording Academy’s Austin Chapter Block Party at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas. During the event, she debuted her songs “Breadcrumbs” and “Leave.”
The Texas show marked Simpson’s first live performance in 15 years, and she took to Instagram following the show to reflect on the memorable experience. “It was an emotional coming back home to the best part of myself,” she wrote at the time. “Thank you for embracing me. You know that I have so much to say, but this lucky voice gets to soar again tonight. I love y’all. More to come.”
