Jimmy Fallon has a huge soft spot towards Call Her Daddy host, Alex Cooper — and according to a source, he’s so impressed by her that he’s willing to train her one day as his late night successor.
“It’s pretty simple to see what’s been going on with these two,” the source tells National Enquirer. “Jimmy sees himself in her, specifically himself twenty years ago when he still had a lot to prove but had managed to establish himself on the national stage.”
“It’s also a striking departure from most of Jimmy’s middle aged comedy hosting peers, who see Alex as a young upstart and are jealous of her success,” the source explains.
The source adds that the former Saturday Night Live star, 51, sees Cooper, 31, as someone “who could eventually take over The Tonight Show or one of his other television properties while keeping the whole thing ‘on-brand’” — something that’s important to Fallon.

“Alex fits in Jimmy’s brand perfectly, and there’s just a ton of common ground there. They’re cut from the exact same cloth,” the source continues. “They both have East Coast roots, they’re both naturally and effortlessly funny, and they both have the work hard-play hard philosophy that Jimmy credits a lot of his success to.”
Fallon is “thinking about his legacy,” says the source, “and with his mentoring of Alex, he’s really thinking long term and not indulging in the doom-and-gloom pessimism that is gripping the rest of the late night TV space. Jimmy has seen the future, and that future is Alex Cooper.”
It’s not just Fallon who noticed Cooper’s potential — as National Enquirer previously reported, insiders believe Cooper is SiriusXM’s favorite media darling, too.
