Speaking during promotions for her new K-drama Boyfriend on Demand, Jisoo said the timing of the album makes it even more special.
Jisoo recently wrapped up BLACKPINK’s Deadline world tour.
Jisoo, the eldest member of BLACKPINK, is brimming with excitement over the group’s long-awaited new album, Deadline. Released on Friday, the five-track EP marks their first multi-track project in more than three years. It features the previously released single Jump, which quickly became a summer hit, and is headlined by the powerful three-minute anthem Go.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter during promotions for her new K-drama Boyfriend on Demand, Jisoo said the timing of the album makes it even more special. “Blackpink’s 10th anniversary is this year,” she said. Jisoo added, “I’m so happy that we’re releasing another album with such great songs this year. We believe everyone will love our [new] music. I hope you enjoy it a lot.”
The 31-year-old singer and actress recently wrapped up BLACKPINK’s Deadline world tour and is now returning to television. In Boyfriend on Demand, a Netflix romantic comedy, she plays Seo Mi-rae, an exhausted webtoon producer who escapes her demanding daily life through a subscription-based virtual dating simulation program. Through this virtual world, her character experiences the dates of her dreams.
Jisoo On Her Role In Boyfriend On Demand
Talking about her role in the show, Jisoo said, “Through this character, Mi-rae, I was able to show multiple sides of myself.” With confidence, she added that fans will love the show. In her words, “I’m sure the Blinks will love it.” Those who may not know, Blinks is the name of Blackpink’s global fanbase.
The Synopsis Of Boyfriend On Demand
As per the synopsis, the series blends workplace struggles with a futuristic virtual reality dating concept. Actor Seo In-guk stars opposite Jisoo as Park Kyeong-nam, her colleague and rival webtoon producer.
The synopsis reads, “Blending the relatable challenges of daily work life and a never-before-seen virtual reality dating subscription program, Boyfriend on Demand is a unique take on the romantic comedy series. Jisoo takes on the role of Seo Mi-rae, who longs for a second chance at love in virtual reality. Seo In-guk plays Park Kyeong-nam, Mi-rae’s colleague and rival webtoon producer.”
In the years since Blackpink’s last group release, each member, including Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rose, has focused on solo projects. Jisoo released her solo album Amortage in February 2025 and also embarked on a solo Asia tour. She previously starred in another series, Newtopia, further expanding her acting career.
Now, with Deadline out and the group celebrating a decade together, fans are excited, and we totally understand why.
