Jon Bon Jovi is a one proud grandfather.
“It’s crazy, but great. Wonderful,” said Bon Jovi to podcaster Bunnie Xo in a “Dumb Blonde” interview posted on Sept. 21 about his new family addition. “They adopted a girl, we met the baby obviously and immediately that becomes your grandchild, you know what I mean? Your baby.”
They are Jake Bongiovi, son of Bon Jovi and Dorothea Bongiovi of Sayreville, and wife Mille Bobby Brown of “Stanger Things” fame, who announced the adoption of a baby girl on Aug. 21.
The baby is Jon and Dorothea’s first grandchild but a second is one the way, Bon Jovi said. Eldest son Jesse Bongiovi, 30, and wife Jesse Light are expecting their first child. Jon and Jesse are collaborators on Hampton Water Wine. Jon and Dorothea’s other children are Stephanie Rose, 32, and Romeo, 21.
Jake Bongiovi, Millie Bobby Brown, Dorothea Hurley and Jon Bon Jovi attend the “Damsel” world premiere at The Plaza on March 1, 2024, in New York City.
“It’s beautiful. I want to see pictures, like, every other day,” said Bon Jovi of his first grandkid. “I’m that pain in the butt guy already and, yeah, it’s cool.”
The rocker was OK with Jake, 23, and Millie, 21, marrying young.
“They got married very young but we blessed it because we get it, you know?” said Bon Jovi, who married Dorothea in 1989 at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. “They’re sort of mature beyond their years. She comes from a family where her parents are still together and they married very young.”
Brown and Bongiovi live in Georgia. The two were married in May 2024 on Long Island in a small ceremony — and then jetted off to Europe for more formal nuptials officiated by Brown’s “Stranger Things” co-star Matthew Modine.
“Her and Jake fell in love and we just thought, ‘OK, we’ll support this,’ “ Bon Jovi said. “And it’s working out.”
Bunnie Xo is the wife of Jelly Roll, with whom Bon Jovi collaborated with on the new single “Live Proof.” The song is from the new version of the Bon Jovi album “Forever” called “Forever (Legendary Edition),” which is due Friday, Oct. 24.
Jon Bon Jovi, Robert Kraft and Jesse Bongiovi attend the Hampton Water Rosé Celebrates LA on March 28, 2019, in West Hollywood, California.
Bon Jovi said that his vocal issues are “healed” and he’ll be touring in 2026.
Bon Jovi and the late William “Count” Basie will be honored at the Count Basie Center for the Arts’ Walk of Fame inaugural induction ceremony starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at 99 Monmouth St. in Red Bank, the center has announced.
