Matt Stone Insists Nothing Shady Behind Episode Delay

The Charlie Kirk Show EP Addresses Recent South Park Episode Removal

South Park’s latest season is set to consist of ten episodes, but the creative team, consisting of Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and the writers and animators under their command, have taken a unique approach to releasing episodes this season, opting to put out a new episode every two weeks, rather than every week. In theory, this gives them more time to work on episodes and maintain a consistent schedule.

In practice, however, they’ve already hit a snag. Last week was supposed to see the launch of a new episode, but it didn’t happen. While Matt & Trey said they simply were unable to crack the episode on time, fan speculation ran rampant, with rumors suggesting they were being censored by Paramount in the wake of the Charlie Kirk shooting on September 10.

During an interview with The Denver Post, Matt Stone set the record straight, maintaining that there was no intervention to keep South Park off the air, and that the episode delay was entirely on them, saying, “We just didn’t get it done. When you always cut it close, sometimes you mess up. That’s the price of being a procrastinator.” If that wasn’t enough of a confirmation, he also directly addressed the rumors, saying, “No one pulled the episode, no one censored us.”

So, there you have it. Nobody censored South Park, and if they did, Matt and Trey would have made sure the public knew about it. Think about it. This season has seen no shortage of controversy due to its depiction of a live-action, “deepfaked” version of Donald Trump, as well as featuring Cartman in a Charlie Kirk haircut spewing hateful rhetoric on college campuses under the guise of “master debating.”

In any case, South Park is due to return on Wednesday, September 24, with new episodes scheduled for release every other week until the season finale on December 10. Whether the show will have anything to say about the Charlie Kirk shooting or the subsequent near-cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel Live remains to be seen.
