Guess what, Wicked fans? Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande are reuniting for a project that’ll have everyone absolutely screaming.
Ever since the two starred together in Wicked and Wicked: For Good, viewers have been eager to see Jonathan and Ariana work together on other acting projects. So, when rumors swirled that the duo would be part of a West End revival of the beloved 1984 musical Sunday in the Park With George, people were desperate for that dream to come true.
Well, the wait is officially over, thanks to a surprise announcement on January 14. Deadline revealed both Jonathan and Ariana will star in a new production of Sunday in the Park With George, with performances beginning at the Barbican Centre in London in the summer of 2027. Jonathan reacted to the news with a photo of him and Ariana sitting in front of the subject of the musical—George Seurat’s famous painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.”
“‘All it has to be is good,'” he wrote on Instagram, with the caption referencing a lyric from the song of the same name that’s featured in Sunday in the Park With George.
Given that this news marks Jonathan and Ariana’s second collaboration, it didn’t take long for some of their celebrity contemporaries to react to the announcement online.
“Oh my goodness WHAT IS HAPPENING?!” Lea Salonga screamed in the comments. “I’m going to have a heart attack,” Maude Apatow penned. “Oh the art that will be made!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Excited!!!!!!” Cynthia Erivo (a.k.a. Jonathan and Ariana’s Wicked co-star) added.
Fans were also ecstatic to learn that Jonathan and Ariana would take the stage together for an all-new project.

Ariana originated the role of Charlotte in the original cast of the 2009 Broadway musical 13. Jonathan has performed in the West End multiple times over the last decade. He most recently starred as Richard II in a 2025 production of William Shakespeare’s play.
Sunday in the Park With George tells the fictionalized story of George Seurat and his great-grandson as they explore the meaning of art and legacy across two eras. Jonathan is set to play George, while Ariana will portray Dot, George’s lover and muse.
