On Monday, the Jordanian royal family celebrated the 80th anniversary of Jordan’s independence. The country gained independence on May 25, 1946; the day marked the end of British rule over the territory and the start of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
To commemorate the historic day, King Abdullah II and Queen Rania were joined by three of their children, Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Salma, and Prince Hashem, and their daughter-in-law, Crown Princess Rajwa. Only Princess Iman missed the festivities.
“I speak to you from this land, a land that has never forsaken its people, on the anniversary of our nation’s independence—a moment in time that endures in our hearts; a pledge and a covenant that we defend with honor and integrity,” King Abdullah said in his remarks yesterday. “Eighty years on and the conviction holds strong in an honorable and resilient people, unfaltering in their principles.”

On Rajwa’s cuffs is the Arabic phrase “نبت السيوف… وحد سيفك ما نبا” which translates “The swords faltered… yet yours alone never failed,” a line from the song “Jordan, Land of Determination” by Fairuz.
“Words that hold the strength of a nation, the steadfastness of its roots, and the pride we carry in our hearts. Alongside these words, the Black Iris crowned in gold stood as one of the main pillars of this design, carrying a story of dignity, resilience, and the beauty of our country,” Dahbour posted on Instagram.
She also carried a Bottega Veneta clutch.
