A guest attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding shares how they got around the strict “no phones” policy.
The couple reportedly asked attendees not to bring phones into Madison Square Garden, where their wedding was held.
They also provided a mandatory phone check for those who arrived with their cells.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s extravagant Madison Square Garden wedding had a strict no-phones policy — but one celebrity guest still managed to find a loophole.
Prior to the couple’s July 3 wedding, reports emerged that guests were asked not to bring any phones into the venue where the ceremony and reception were being held. For those that did, there would be a mandatory cell phone check.
But on July 4, Sophie Charles — the wife of Dead Poets Society and The Good Wife actor Josh Charles — revealed that she broke the rule.
“Snuck a phone into MSG,” Sophie captioned a video shared to Instagram.
In the clip, Sophie playfully shows off a tiny gold flip phone pendant from her jewelry company, Mad Fine. Luckily, the newlyweds have nothing to worry about in terms of leaks because while the pendant is flippable, the website description clarifies the obvious: that it is “not a functional phone.”
Sophie isn’t the only one who had a funny takeaway from the no-phone policy. Around midnight on the night of the wedding, Joseph Kahn — a frequent collaborator of Swift’s who has directed several of her music videos — shared a post on X about the joy of meeting Steven Spielberg and Willie Scott at the reception.

One commenter then quipped, “someone finally got their phone back lol.”
To which Kahn joked, “I haven’t been without my phone that long since 1992.”
Around 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, news broke that Swift and Kelce were officially married, courtesy of signs outside of MSG that declared, “JUST&T MARRIED.” The popstar’s PR team subsequently confirmed via a statement that Adam Sandler officiated the wedding, the bride and groom wore Dior, and their siblings acted as the only members of the bridal party. Per additional reports, the ceremony was attended by between 500 and 999 guests.
