Journey were forced to cancel their scheduled performance at Stagecoach festival after an emergency evacuation.
The iconic band were meant to take to the stage on Saturday, April 25, but high winds meant the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California had to implement an evacuation. While fans were allowed back into the festival site just an hour later, Journey had been dropped from the updated schedule following the weather issues.
One concert-goer told the LA Times, “The show was pretty windy when we got there, but we went into a saloon to see one of our friends do karaoke. When we came out, palm trees were like bending in half.”
Journey guitarist Neal Schon shared an update on the unexpected cancellation on Facebook on Sunday, April 26. He wrote, “We want to sincerely apologize to everyone at Stagecoach Festival last night. We were truly looking forward to performing for you.”
He continued, “The decision to evacuate and cancel the show was not made by us. It was issued and communicated to our team during the emergency situation,” he continued. “The safety of our fans, crew, and everyone on site had to come first. We’re deeply sorry we couldn’t take the stage and share that moment with you. We appreciate your support, patience, and the incredible energy you bring every night.”
“The high winds were extremely dangerous for all and evacuation was the call,” keyboardist Jonathan Cain added on X. “All our fans should know we were waiting and were ready to play.”
The show goes on for Journey who will continue with their Final Frontier tour – the final ever stint that will include Cain – on Wednesday in Las Vegas. The band are currently scheduled to be on the road until August 11 when they perform in Sturgis, South Dakota.
However, both Schon and Cain have have admitted the tour could continue well into 2027 if they decide to add further dates. Cody Johnson and Post Malone were also among the performers at Stagecoach over the weekend.

Large-scale festivals like Stagecoach can place real strain on that system — from soil compaction and habitat disruption to water use and waste generation in an already resource-scarce environment.”
