Billy Eichner and Joy Behar just bonded over one very unique topic: their shared crush on Regis Philbin.
The Billy on the Street star, 47, and the comedian, 83, became instant best friends when Eichner was asked about having a crush on the late television presenter, who died at 88 in 2020, on Wednesday’s episode of The View.
“I cannot believe you’re bringing this up. Oh my God,” Eichner remarked. “I don’t think this is what you’re expecting, but as a child — well, not a child, but when I was younger — yes, oh, I’m just gonna say it: I had a crush on Regis Philbin, okay?! I did!”

“So did I!” Behar exclaimed, to which Eichner responded, “You did!? We should’ve had a threesome! You, me, and Regis — and throw [his Live cohost] Kathie Lee in there, too!”
His remark sent the entire View table into a fit of laughter, with Sara Haines launching backward in her chair and Whoopi Goldberg leaning on her fellow cohost for support as they giggled.
Behar also chimed in to note that she shared a first name with Philbin’s wife, Joy. “That’s right,” Eichner responded.
When asked to explain his Philbin fever, Eichner replied, “First of all, Regis was a handsome man. He had a big personality… a good head of hair.”
He also served as an aspirational figure to Eichner during his childhood. “I grew up in Queens, which is right outside of Manhattan, which is kind of an interesting place because you’re so close to the center of everything but still so far away,” Eichner said, noting that his parents frequently commuted back and forth between the two boroughs for work.

“Regis and Kathie Lee would come on every day and talk about what they did the night before, and the Broadway openings they went to, and they saw Tony Danza do a cabaret show,” he said. “And I was like, that’s the most glamorous thing I’ve ever heard in my life, right? And so it was aspirational to me.”

While Behar and Eichner may have wanted to smooch Philbin, Jimmy Kimmel and John Oliver recently revealed they’d both been kissed by the Who Wants to be a Millionaire host on a recent episode of The Late Show.
“Not only did I kiss Regis, he chewed my gum,” Kimmel said, prompting groans from the audience.
Oliver had a slightly different, more ominous experience. “Regis kissed me on the top of the head,” he said, noting that “it felt like someone in the mafia labeling someone for a hit. It’s no way to say goodbye to a human being.”
The View airs weekdays on ABC.
