Judge Denies Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s Bid to Hide Alleged Ray J Deal in Defamation Suit

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner hit a legal roadblock as a judge refuses to keep explosive details of their alleged private deal with Ray J out of public view.

According to court documents reviewed by TMZ, Kim and Kris were denied in their effort to keep information about a supposed secret 2023 settlement with Ray J sealed, after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled they failed to show that making the agreement public would cause them harm.

The documents also reportedly indicate the judge rejected their request to seal the deal and related filings.

Kim and Kris sued Ray J in October 2025 for defamation over his claims that they were under RICO investigation by federal authorities, which they denied. Ray J then countersued, alleging they breached a confidential 2023 agreement tied to the sex tape controversy.

Ray J claimed he was paid $6 million to keep quiet about the infamous tape and alleged Kim and Kris violated the deal by discussing it on their Hulu show.

TMZ notes that the Kardashian family has not confirmed the $6 million figure.

Through their lawyers, Kim and Kris had asked the court to keep the agreement and related materials private.

“The agreement resolved highly sensitive matters that the parties explicitly agreed to keep confidential in order to protect their families from public disclosure and respect these sensitive matters,” read a statement from the lawyers, per TMZ.

The judge sided with Ray J and ordered Kim and Kris to file unredacted versions of the agreement.
