Lorna Luft Gives Her Review of Wicked
While attending the Red Diamond 95th Anniversary Gala at the Pierre Hotel in New York City, Luft shared her candid thoughts on the Wicked movies while praising director Jon M. Chu and the members of the cast.
Speaking with E! Newson the red carpet for the event on Thursday, Nov. 20, Luft said, “You know, I am so pleased for everyone on Wicked.”
“I think that Jon Chu is amazing,” she told reporters, before going on to say, “I think Cynthia [Erivo] and Ariana [Grande]and everybody in that film, they are a separate entity. And they have their own story and their own visit with Oz.”
Luft, 73, knows all about the merry old land of Oz, as her mom famously played Dorothy in the groundbreaking 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz. The Wicked films—adapted from the hit Broadway musical—follow the origin story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West that is after Dorothy and her friends in the original film.
While also mentioning Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh during her interview on Thursday, Luft gushed over the slew of actors and performers who will forever be linked to Oz through their experience on Wicked.
“Everyone affected by going to Oz and joining the Oz family is quite remarkable,” she said.
