The entertainment industry is mourning the sudden passing of South Korean actor Jung Eun-woo, who died at the age of 40.
News of his death was reported on February 11. The exact cause has not been disclosed, in accordance with the wishes of his family. His wake is currently being held at the New Goryeo Hospital Funeral Hall, Room 2, in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province. The funeral procession is scheduled for February 13 at 12:00 p.m., after which he will be laid to rest at Byeokje Crematorium.
Adding to the sadness surrounding his passing, Jung Eun-woo shared a brief and cryptic message on Instagram just one day before his death. The actor wrote, “Missed, envious, regrettable,” alongside photos of Hong Kong actor Leslie Cheung, British singer Amy Winehouse, and himself.
Both Leslie and Amy were celebrated artists who died at a young age, prompting fans to interpret the post as a possible final message and express their grief and concern online.
Jung Eun-woo made his acting debut in 2006 through the KBS youth drama Rounding Off Season 3.
Over the years, he built a steady career in television, appearing in notable dramas such as H.I.T, Bride of the Sun, One Well-Raised Daughter, and My Only One. His final film appearance was in Memory (2021), which now stands as the last chapter in his body of work.
Fans and colleagues have since taken to social media to remember the actor, honoring his contributions to Korean television and film while mourning the loss of a talent gone too soon.
