The Kansas City Royals aren’t coming off a horrible season, as they finished over .500 with an 82-80 record, but were two spots out still from securing a playoff spot as a wild card team.

With having a key player like Bobby Witt Jr., the Royals need to find a better way to fill out the rest of the team with talent to take that next step towards contending.

One way in which the Royals can do so this 2026 MLB Free Agency period, is by adding to their outfield with a person that can solidify their corner outfield spot, while also adding more production to their lineup as a whole.

They were linked to having interest in a trade for Jarren Duran, but the Boston Red Sox’s asking price was too much. For the Royals to still achieve this goal, they can turn to free agency instead, and sign Kyle Tucker.

For Kyle Tucker, those teams could interest him, but so could the Kansas City Royals, a team where he could be the missing piece to propelling them fully towards being contenders, while also playing alongside Witt Jr.

For the Royals, many aren’t expecting them to make a big splash in free agency, but if they are going to make sure they continue to make improvements and take strides as a team, they should look to make a splash.

Kyle Tucker is the exact player they need to look to add to their team, as he helps both in the outfield and their batting lineup. Tucker has a career slash line of .273/.358/.507 with 147 home runs and 490 RBIs. He has shown the consistency from an offensive perspective, to pair with being a four-time All-Star and Gold Glove award winner.

The biggest thing for the Royals would be knowing they will have to pay Kyle Tucker anywhere between his projected $300-$450 million, depending on contract length. For a talented player like Tucker, though, it is worth it.
