However, Karan has now addressed the buzz and clarified the real reason behind his decision.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Karan Johar dismissed all rumours and explained that the move was simply part of a “digital detox”. In his characteristic witty and sarcastic style, the filmmaker wrote, “It’s a DIGITAL DETOX!!!! Am unfollowing everyone to reduce my time and energy spent on the gram!!!” He further reacted to the excessive attention surrounding the matter and added, “This can’t be national news for god’s sake…please clickbait something else! This is irrelevant!”

The clarification comes after social media users were quick to speculate about Karan’s equations with various Bollywood celebrities. While many noticed that he had unfollowed Shah Rukh Khan and several other stars, fans also pointed out that Priyanka Chopra Jonas continued to remain on his following list, leading to even more online discussions and theories.

Karan Johar has often been at the centre of Bollywood conversations owing to his close friendships and professional collaborations with some of the industry’s biggest stars. Over the years, the filmmaker has worked extensively with Shah Rukh Khan in films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, and My Name Is Khan.
