White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed she is an American Idol fan as she praised Season 24 winner Hannah Harper on social media.
The 28-year-old mom-of-two took to her Instagram Stories on Monday, May 11, asking followers, “Does anyone else still watch American Idol?” She shared a photo from her living room, watching the show on her plasma TV.
Her post came shortly after Hannah Harper was crowned the champion of the latest season of the ABC singing competition.
The finale saw finalists Keyla Richardson, Jordan McCullough and Hannah Harper compete for the title during a three-hour live episode packed with performances from judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, alongside guest stars including Nelly, Brad Paisley, Lee Ann Womack and Jason Mraz.
Host Ryan Seacrest later announced Hannah took home the crown following the nationwide fan vote. According to the show, she became the first female country artist to win since Carrie Underwood.
Jordan McCullough finished in second place, while Keyla Richardson came third.
Following her victory, Hannah opened up emotionally about the support she received from her family throughout the competition.
“I’m a puddle right now,” Hannah told USA TODAY an hour after wept on stage with star-shaped confetti in her hair and on her lashes. “All the sacrifices have been made [by my family] to make this happen. Had it not been for my husband … that poor man has sacrificed his entire life.”
She continued, “Every part of normalcy he had – to uproot life and bring our whole family here and live out of a hotel for two months – just so I could do this meant everything to me. I don’t know how I’ll ever repay him for that. He’s not the only one; my parents also. I just feel like my village is growing now.”
The post from Karoline also comes just days after she shared a personal family update of her own.
She recently welcomed her daughter Viviana – nicknamed ‘Vivi’ – after briefly stepping away on maternity leave.
Leavitt shared a photo on May 7 showing herself holding the newborn in a pink and yellow nursery, revealing Vivi was born on May 1.
“On May 1st, Viviana aka ‘Vivi’ joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love,” she wrote in the post. “She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister.
“We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble. Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy – I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.”
