Princess Kate and Duchess Sophie both channelled the late Queen Elizabeth II today with their actions at the Remembrance Day service, a body language expert has said. The two senior royal women appeared on separate balconies of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office to watch the service, and both appeared “utterly regal”.
While they displayed impeccable royal behaviour not too different from that of the late Queen, body language expert Judi James said there was a slight break in tradition when they both displayed emotion in public. This is something the late Queen typically avoided.
These moments of emotion were caught on camera and, according to Judi, show a “modern evolution”.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, body language expert Judi James said: “With Kate sharing her balcony with Camilla and Sophie with the very frail Duke of Kent, both women seemed to prove how much they have inherited their royal behavioral legacy direct from the late Queen they were both so close to.
“Both women looked utterly regal with Kate standing to elegant attention wearing a suitably solemn facial expression while Sophie stood in a very stoic pose on her balcony spot.
“There was only some slight breaking from royal tradition under the ‘Elizabeth rules’ to suggest a modern evolution here: Kate couldn’t stop herself from flashing a very warm, loving and admiring dimpled smile at husband William and his father as they walked back inside the building, while Sophie appeared at one point to have become more openly emotional as she wiped away a tear.
“It was a quick moment though and, after one speedy dab with her gloved hand, she inspected the tip of her finger as though looking at the culprit, before regaining her stoic composure again.”
