Katherine Schwarzenegger has met everyone’s worst nightmare … losing a beloved pet.
The 35-year-old daughter of Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to share a carousel post featuring a handful of pics with her beloved horse Cinco.
“My sweet Cinco! I’ve always dreaded this day coming. Saying goodbye to an animal is never easy, especially one who has been there for nearly every chapter of your life,” Katherine began.
She went on to explain, “Cinco came into my world when I was 11 years old. He and Brandy were my safe place. I spent every day after school with Cinco and Brandy at the barn. I did my homework in their stalls, traveled to horse shows with them, and embarked on new chapters of life with them.
“Throughout my teenage years I’d find myself going to their stalls whenever I needed to process life: to work through fears, worries, anxiety, joys, triumphs, first loves, first heartbreaks and so much more—finding calm and comfort in their presence,” Katherine added.
“Anyone who has had a bond with an animal knows what I’m talking about. Animals, big and small, have the power and ability to see us for who we are, allow us to feel loved unconditionally and bring us a sense of peace we can’t get anywhere else,” the wife of Chris Pratt continued.
Katherine then shared, “Cinco was witness to every version of me and saw me through it all,” before listing off big life milestone like “high school, college, a young woman entering the world, single, dating, engaged, married, pregnant 3 times.”
“The barn became my sanctuary, the one place I could always exhale,” she admitted. “It was the place where I instantly could take a deep breath and just be. It’s where I went when my parents told me they were separating. I sat in Cinco’s stall just to be in his calming presence. When the Palisades fires forced us to evacuate from our home in January, I went to Cinco. Nothing else soothed me like being near him.”
Katherine concluded, “I was my truest and most authentic version of myself at the barn and still to this day, being at the barn is where I feel my calmest.”

Fans were quick to console the mom-of-three in the comments, with one user saying, “I’m so sorry & I know the loss of a special horse. What a beautiful visual you gave us with your words. Sending so much love & I’ll see you soon. Love that you share your love of animals here.”
A second person wrote, “Oh my heart, sending you the biggest hugs possible. love you so much,” with a third chiming in, “I am so sorry for your precious loss. Such a beautiful tribute to your sweet horse Cinco, their unconditional love is such a gift. We had a quarter horse who lived for 34 years ( he was pretty spoiled but so loved) its heartbreaking losing them.”
