Katie Holmes is reflecting on working with Joshua Jackson on their new film, Happy Hours, more than two decades after Dawson’s Creek

Katie Holmes is reflecting on working with Joshua Jackson again, years after starring in Dawson’s Creek together.
In a post shared to Instagram on Thursday, April 16, Holmes, 47, wrote about working with her former costar on Happy Hours — the new film directed by and starring Holmes.
“We are so thrilled to be a part of the Tribeca Film Festival this June with our film Happy Hours,” she captioned the post, alongside a portrait of herself and Jackson, also 47. “So many beautiful people worked on this project. And working with Josh again was a dream.”

Jackson, 47, shared in a new interview that Happy Hours will hopefully be the first of three films documenting a couple’s evolving relationship.
“That time in my life would be for most people like their college years, right?” Jackson said on the Today show in March, referencing his Dawson’s Creek days. “And there are these people in your life — she’s a lifelong friend now — and for us to be able to go back and do this again, and, honestly, for her to be able to create that space for us was kind of magical.”
The film follows past loves who cross paths and rekindle their connection years later.
“Katie wrote this beautiful story for the two of us that is the three phases of a love story,” Jackson shared at the time. “So we shot the fun part, which is the falling in love, and she’s cutting it together now. And that will come out and hopefully it will give us the opportunity to go back and make the other two.”
The pair made headlines last summer when they were photographed on the streets of New York City filming Happy Hours.
Jackson said during his Today show appearance that working on the project with Holmes was a great way for them to reunite on camera for one of the first times since Dawson’s Creek ended in 2003.

“More than anything, for me, selfishly, it was an opportunity to get to work with Kate again,” Jackson said. “We spent so much intense time at a particular moment in our lives and then we have maintained our friendship for all of these years, but we’ve never had a chance to be on camera together, and it was magic. It was so nice to go back into that place. And, you know, you never know until you’re actually doing the thing, but to still have chemistry with somebody after all of those years is nice.”

Holmes and Jackson dated for a year from 1998 and 1999 during the filming of Dawson’s Creek, but continued working together until the show ended in 2003.
Jackson married Jodie Turner-Smith in 2019 and had one child together before splitting in 2023. The actor would then go on to date Lupita Nyong’o and be spotted out with Nastassja Roberts.
Holmes was married to Tom Cruise from 2006 to 2012 and the two share daughter Suri Cruise. She then dated Jamie Foxx between 2015 and 2019. Holmes has also been linked to Emilio Vitolo Jr. and Bobby Wooten III.
